Certification Roadmap: Practitioner to Certified Auxesis Facilitator
Self-assess across four competencies, build your evidence portfolio, and determine readiness for Module 4.
What You’ll Learn
Self-Assessment: Four Facilitation Competencies
| Competency | Developing | Practitioner | Proficient |
|---|---|---|---|
| Practitioner Stage Habits | Still explaining before asking; filling silence automatically | Asks before telling in most moments; holds 10 sec silence | Three commitments automatic under live pressure |
| Question Vocabulary | Primarily uses one question type; mostly entry questions | Uses all four types; some intentional sequencing | Sequences fluidly within sessions; adapts to student state |
| Coach Stage Reading | Misreads student states regularly; intervenes in productive struggle | Identifies states correctly most of the time; coach moves emerging | State reading accurate; all three coach moves deployed appropriately |
| COMPASS Integration | Reads briefs but doesn’t adapt to them; post-session notes sparse | Brief informs session preparation; notes capture surprises | Full loop operating: Brief → Session → Note → Informed next session |
Evidence Portfolio
Submit five pieces of evidence demonstrating competency at the Proficient level across all four dimensions:
- A session recording (audio) with your self-annotation — timestamps marking each question type and coach move used
- Three Mastery Log entries from three different students demonstrating the Explain–Apply–Sustain standard
- Five post-session COMPASS notes that include all three required elements
- A written reflection on your 30-day implementation sprint — what changed, what didn’t, and why
- One Facilitation Brief with your written response plan and post-session comparison (brief vs. what actually happened)
Sprint Retrospective
Look back at the 30-day sprint that produced your evidence portfolio and answer honestly:
- Which competency moved the most? What drove the improvement?
- Which competency moved least — and what was in the way?
- What’s the one thing you’d change about how you approached the sprint?
- What does your practice look like now that it didn’t look like 30 days ago?
Readiness Verdict
✓ Ready for Module 4
All four competencies at Proficient. Evidence portfolio complete. Sprint retrospective demonstrates self-awareness about what drove growth.
⟳ One More Sprint
One or two competencies at Practitioner. Evidence is present but incomplete. The sprint produced growth — one more cycle will consolidate it.
Reflection
Take a moment before moving on. These questions are where the lesson becomes personal.
What’s the hardest part of this self-assessment for you to be honest about — and why?
What evidence surprised you most — either positive or negative?
If you ran the 30-day sprint again with what you know now, what would you do in week 1 that you didn’t?
